What is Fusion Marketing?


Fusion Marketing is the combination of traditional forms of marketing such as direct mail or magazine ads with online marketing strategies.  The main objective is to bring ‘offline’ people, online. 


Why would we want to do that?


While direct mail and traditional forms of advertising can be expensive, If we bring potential customers that are offline online, we can continue to market to them at a very low cost.

 

 
Example:  Imagine you own a local weight loss clinic in Miami, Florida.  Due to regulatory and legal issues, you cannot sell your product online.  Your marketing objective is to get new patients through the door to meet with the doctor. 


In the old days, you might run an ad that looked something like this:

With fusion marketing, the ad would look more like this:

This type of ad is called a ‘Lead Generation’ advertisement.  If someone were to see this ad in a magazine or newspaper, and was concerned about his weight, he would then go to a web page where he could take the test.  We would first make him enter his email address so we can follow up with relevant information, to move him along the sales process. 

  

 

The webpage would have a form that looked similar to this:

After they fill out the form and take the test, we are free to market to these prospects until they buy, or ask us to stop.
